Grandview’s Backyard Children’s Ministries

Kids love their backyards. Backyards can be places of excitement and discovery -- perfect for connecting with others.

The same is true of Grandview’s Backyard Children’s Ministries! We believe the home is where primary spiritual formation of a child takes place. Grandview’s Backyard is here to assist families in giving kids a "grand view" of God through the Gospel of Christ.

Grandview’s Pre-K Ministries

From our peaceful Nursery to our active Pre-K and Children’s Church classes, children will be cared for and led by our passionate ministry partners. We come along side the family by providing safe, engaging, and interactive environments.

Pre-K Worship and Sunday School Hours

During the 9:30am worship hour and the 10:50am Sunday school hour we offer four classes: Infant Nursery, Toddlers, Two-year-olds, and Pre-K. Our classes are age-appropriate and allow your child to learn more about Jesus and the Bible in bite-sized pieces.

K-5 Clubhouse

For Kindergartners to 5th Graders, Grandview’s Clubhouse is a place your elementary age child’s grand view of God will grow. Our goal is for children to choose to pursue Him with their lives and actively develop a faith to take them into their teen years and beyond.

K-2 Children’s Church

Your children in grades K-2nd are encouraged to join you in the beginning of our 9:30am service to participate as a family in worship and prayer. They will be dismissed just prior to the sermon to attend our Children’s Church program. Our ministry partner teams will lead them through high-energy lessons designed to engage them in God’s Word. This provides a great opportunity for spiritual growth and the building of meaningful relationships with their teachers and other children. At 10:50am, Children’s Church will transition into the Sunday school opening for K-5th. You may go directly to your own Sunday School class following the worship service.

***What about kids in grades 3-5? As families are the primary influencers of their children, we would like you to keep your children with you during the worship service, beginning at 3rd grade. This provides you, the parent, the opportunity to model what participation in other elements of the worship service looks like. We believe that you and your children hearing the same message helps your family continue faith conversations after the service is over.

 AWANA Clubs

AWANAS_500.jpg

Join us each Wednesday, meets September - May, for an exciting AWANA Clubs program for kids 3 yrs old through 5th grade.

Each week from 6:30-8:00pm kids will engage in high energy worship songs, Bible memorization, age appropriate Bible lessons, and games. AWANA is a acronym from 2 Timothy 2:15, and it stands for: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. You are encouraged to work with your child(ren) throughout the week to help them memorize Bible verses from their handbook. Then when they come to AWANA on Wednesdays they will have the opportunity to share with their leader the verses they have memorized. Children will receive various prizes and awards as they work through their AWANA handbook each year. A warm welcome to you from Grandview Church in Davenport, Iowa.

VBS VOLUNTEER 2024

Children’s Ministry Partners

We have a variety of places for people to serve within Grandview’s Backyard Children’s Ministries, whether on Sunday morning, Wednesday evenings, or with special events throughout the year. If you are interested please contact Grandview Baptist Church at (563) 391-4310 or submit the Volunteer form.

All children’s ministry volunteers are required to have attended Grandview for six months so that you can get to know us and we can get to know you. Along with this the volunteer must agree with and sign Grandview’s Sexual Abuse and Molestation Policy, as well as allow us to run a background check in order to provide a safe and secure environment

Based on the gift each one has received, use it to serve others, as good managers of the varied grace of God. If anyone speaks, it should be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, it should be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
